Wireless LED lighting manufacturer Astera launches its innovative product, QuikBeam, a new member of its ‘QuikFamily’, which is designed and engineered to deliver max intensity in the smallest, lightest and most robust form factor!
QuikBeam: Quick and Compact
Usable in any lighting scenario, QuikBeam is in a class of its own; a super bright, rapidly deployable, fresnel lensed fixture with 13 – 60 degree zoom, complete with swappable batteries, practical plug-and-play functionality … AND all the performance, perfect colour mixing, quality and high CRI / TLCI of Astera’s outstanding Titan LED Engine.
QuikBeam is ultimately flexible and portable thanks to several new smart features introduced by the Astera R&D team.
QuikBrick, a replaceable / swappable battery system, saves wait time for fixtures to charge. Batteries can simply be replaced on site if needed, when a unit returns from rental or a demo. Spare batteries can be kept on charge and swapped in / out on-the-fly, ensuring the fixtures are constantly ready for immediate use.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) connectivity over EtherCON enables streamlined installations with combined power and data over a single cable, running up to 100 metres / 328 ft, perfect for remote prepping and sACN / ArtNet control for shows and events.
A versatile zoom with an extra narrow beam, HotBeam delivers clean, highly defined beams, which are ideal for precise uplighting, accenting or the highlighting of features and set pieces. HotBeam delivers exceptional output and central intensity beyond 13 degrees for situations requiring maximum punch over a perfectly rounded beam.
QuikBeam joins Astera’s new and already popular QuikSpot and QuikPunch fixtures launched over the last 18 months, which are helping redefine the art of precision LED lighting for events and broadcast applications.
While QuikPunch can be used on stage or for washing walls, QuikSpot offers the perfect output-to-size ratio in versatile events and QuikBeam delivers the most elegant yet powerful look as a discreet uplight.
The fixtures can also be used for eye-candy and twinkling pixel mapping effects on a stage, and of course, as broadcasting fresnels or theatrical PCs.
QuikBeam has been developed following extensive feedback from lighting designers, technicians, installers, rental houses – where quick turnarounds are essential – and venues, bringing multiple new levels of flexibility and workflow efficiency to professional lighting setups.
As with all Astera products, multiple mounting options are included.
The yoke can be popped on / off, and the light has a kickstand on the back. There is Airline track on the yoke for all accessories – TrackPin, TrackPin Compact and TrackSpigot 28/16 can be slid in – and there are holes for stage clamps or threaded bolts. Directly in the housing, there is the useful 3/8” thread from the Quik family and now also an additional ¼” thread for smaller pins or tripod mounting.
Beam shaping is an essential feature for accuracy and adaptability. The 13 – 60 degree zoom mirrors that of QuikSpot and QuikPunch – and the straightforward integrated ‘QuikTurn’ adjustment mechanics.
The extra click beyond 13 degrees enables the HotBeam effect, which is perfect for uplighting objects or for instances that simply just need that extra narrow beam with additional brightness. It also enhances the throw distance when QuikBeam is used as an up-light.
A super lightweight, easy-fit set of barn doors – with SafetyLink – provides more beam-shaping options, while an EdgeSoftener filter for emulating classic fresnel looks can be swiftly inserted to the front of the fixture. Likewise, a rotatable elliptical filter enables the beam angle to be changed without rotating the entire physical fixture.
Charging options are greatly expanded with the swappable battery.
The ChargingDock accommodates up to four batteries simultaneously via a single TRUE1 cable, and each individual battery has a charging indicator. The battery also has a USB-C connector for fast charging that can be used as a backup cell phone power bank!
QuikBeam can be charged directly via PoE with the QuikBrick battery inserted in the light as well as in the 4-unit flight case or the 4-unit NetBox.
The fixture can also be hardwired using a singular PowerInjector power supply, and if a battery is inserted in the light, it can also be charged using this option.
NetBox has full PrepBox functionality, similar to the charging systems for the QuikSpot and QuikPunch, and it takes 4 units that can be hardwired via EtherCON and work at up to 100 metres distance. Astera NetBoxes can also be truss mounted with an additional bracket.
QuikBeam can also be hardwired without a battery, and to maintain its IP65 integrity in this scenario, the battery cover detaches and fits neatly into the battery slot. The NetBox is also IP65 rated when used with EtherCON connectors.
As PoE is an industry standard, any PoE switch can be utilised to hardwire the QuikBeam or charge the battery when inserted in the fixture.
While multiple-unit flight-cases will be available via Astera distributors, the 4-unit QuikBeam kit includes 4 lights plus a NetBox, a ChargingDock, all the rigging and beam shaping accessories in one Pele-style case, which is a brilliantly mobile lighting package for any location.
A 2-unit Backpack kit is also available for even more portability and is perfect for pop-up situations!
Control-wise, everything stays the same in the Astera ecosystem. With wireless DMX / CRMX and Astera App control via inbuilt BTB, the NetBox is an additional / alternative control option, and the FX Remote and the White Remote IR controllers can also be used.
QuikBeam is another outstandingly usable and high-quality wireless LED lighting solution from Astera.
